WHAT ARE THEY

Copy-editing and proofreading are the two final steps before publishing any text, regardless it was written directly in the target language by the specialist or translated. Very often they are considered synonyms, but they are actually two different steps, which however can be performed at the same time up to a certain extent.

Proofreading regards the most mechanical phase, in fact it deals with typos, layout issues, upper and lower casing, paragraphs, punctuation.

As a copy-editor, I adapt and polish the final text maintaining the author’s voice and intention. It is a pivotal step to “clean” the text to avoid style flaws, terminological or logical inconsistencies, wobbly syntax or poorly fluid flow.

I offer these two services separately, but often as a package both for Italian and English texts because when translating I happen to find mistakes of various types also in the source text. No piece of writing is immune to editing and proofreading: thanks to this final “polishing”, your text will be even more valuable and solid, it will be fluid and smooth, nice to see and even more so to read.
